S'up, ?
Cleopatra died 2,042 years ago today. And we're still gossiping about her. Damn.

SEX CRIMINALS #7 hits this week and, ooph, it and 6 were both bears to write. A lot of dirt to dig through, I guess. Anyway the lateness is entirely on me and we’re racing along and should be close to back to normal soon. Suzie and Rach meet after their breakup; Jon tries getting away with it as a kid and as the man-kid he is now, digging deep into Kegelface’s private life. I don’t want to spoil anything, but Kegelface’s Sex Basement is maybe the funniest thing Chip’s ever drawn.
About half of SATELLITE SAM #10 is in; Howard cranks along there like a maniac.
The lettering for HAWKEYE #19 is being done as I type this; I don’t know that it’ll make press this week but surely next week, meaning it should drop… oh… September 3rd, if we make it, or September 10th, if we don’t. These are guesstimates. I might be wrong. The point is: it’s done.
Moon is getting into the meat of CASANOVA: ACEDIA #2. New, big, compleat hardcovers of the first trilogy are on their way. These will collect everything in a gorgeous package. Then the new issues will start rolling out.
OK i’m gonna keep it short this week because I’m sad and I’m wrapping the first issue of ODY-C. 38 pages of story and tons of bonus material.

Scott Allie tells me I have mean girl handwriting. Or maybe it was popular girl handwriting...? Well. Either way. I feel like the villain in a John Hughes film now. THANKS SCOTT.
If you are in... well... California, I guess, I'm going to be at Illusive Comics tomorrow from 1pm-7pm. I don't know how California works. Or maps, apparently. I'm told this is near both Berkeley *and* my friend who works at Apple. I had no idea these were the same area at all.
Regardless! If you can forgive me my geographical ignorance, come hang out. I'll be the one with some swag, a sharpie and a desire to write my name on your stuff.
CAPTAIN MARVEL 6 is in stores tomorrow and it's the final issue of the HIGHER FASTER FURTHER MORE storyline. This is the big showdown, wherein the role of David is played by Captain Marvel and the Settlers of Torfa and the role of Goliath is played by the Spartax Empire. Let's not fool ourselves: you already know who's gonna win, but I'm dying for you to see how. Oh, and Ja Kyee Lrurt's wife makes an appearance. Her name is Pud. She's predictably badass.
More on PRETTY DEADLY and BITCH PLANET progress next week.
Prometheus Fire & Stone Project
09/10/14 Prometheus Fire & Stone #1
09/24/14 Aliens Fire & Stone #1
10/08/14 AvP Fire & Stone #1
10/22/14 Predator Fire & Stone #1
KS: I gave you guys a sneak peek at Agustin Alessio's layouts for our Fire & Stone: Omega collaboration a week or two ago and thought you might want another look. Check it out:
If you're not familiar with the project, read more about it here. These interconnected books were developed in a writers room with myself, Scott Allie, Josh Williamson, Paul Tobin, Chris Sebela, Chris Roberson and Randy Stradley. Each title above is a four issue stand-alone series, with each related to and enriched by its sister series. And they'll all be capped off with a 44-page closer -- the Omega issue that Agustin and I are doing. It sounds intimidating I know, but if we've done our jobs correctly you should be able to read any one of the series (or even just the Omega issue alone) and get a full story*, but of course we're hoping you'll want to check them all out.
Anyway, we busted our butts on this and I'm proud of everyone involved. Even Josh. I hope you'll consider taking a look.
* You also don't need an encyclopedic knowledge of the Alien universe -- you should be able to come into any of the books cold and follow along.
This week's requests from the survey:
"DeFraction Family Sandwich of the Week"
KS: Well, I'm not sure if this can rightly be called a DeFraction Family Sandwich because I think i'm the only one who eats them, but my favorite sandwich is Peanut Butter, Cheddar Cheese and Dill Pickle on Toast. (No, I am not pregnant. Yes, I am sure.) As far as I know, my Grandpa DeConnick invented it and he's gone now, but my mom and I still love the combination and can't make the sandwich without thinking of him.
Here's a pic of Grandma and Grandpa -- their engagement photo, I believe. He's gone. She turned 90 last week.
"embarrassing truths about Brian Michael Bendis"
MF: He pronounces “Asgard” like “Ass Guard”. Like -- like there’s very clearly a hyphen there. As-gard. Ass Guard. I used to imagine Odin with great golden butt armor. Ass guard. Always funny then when, in retreats, he’d talk about, say, Norman Osborn et al. coming to lay siege to Ass Guard. Everybody attacks Ass Guard. They take the Rainbow Bridge to Ass Guard.

The second book in Greg Rucka's Jad Bell series, BRAVO, is out now. You're gonna want this one too. (I'm getting it and ALPHA for my dad for Christmas.) (I hope he doesn't read this.) (I don't think he does.) (Uh... Merry Christmas, Dad.) Anyway, I linked to the Amazon page for reference, but if you want to avoid the Hachette/Amazon nonsense, try your local bookseller or Powell's.
